A good solution to unemployment is social entrepreneurship, which needs to be promoted in a big way in India. Already, there are several success stories about social entrepreneurs, but a lot more people need to come forward to make a tangible difference. Sui Dhaaga: Made in India is one such story about a common man, who rises against all odds to emerge as a successful social entrepreneur. In doing so, he not only achieves personal success, but also creates regular job opportunities for others. If we can have more of such social entrepreneurs, our people can be empowered and it would be a big boost to the economy.
Sui Dhaaga catches up on the lives of Mauji (Varun Dhawan) and his wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma), who are living an ordinary life, just like any other common man. They have various problems, for example, Mauji is in a dead-end job where his boss often makes him do his personal work. Mauji is also constantly criticized by his father, who does not believe in the power of dreams. An ailing mother makes everyday life even more troubling for Mauji. His wife Mamta also suffers, as she remains busy with household chores. Both remain so busy that they have very limited time to discuss their future or spend quality time together. However, their lives take a dramatic turn when Mauji quits his job and starts his own tailoring business. Will they succeed, or the society will get the opportunity to say – “I told you so.”
The movie demonstrates that one does not need superpowers to become successful in life. Determination, dedication, hard work, focus and perseverance can help anyone achieve their dreams. The movie works as a good morale booster, as it shows the struggles of a common man, who overcomes all problems and challenges to emerge a winner. The movie is also peppered with ample humor, which lightens up the mood when things tend to get too heavy. Varun and Anushka share a good chemistry and they are easily mistaken for a loving, small town couple. Background score and songs of the movie are perfectly attuned to the story, which lend credibility to it.
Sui Dhaaga is a common man’s journey from employment to self-employment. This one can be enjoyed with the entire family and it’s a source for inspiration for everyone.
