The Supreme Court (SC) has refused a request which seeks that it passes a judgement on Jallikattu before 14th of January. The SC has categorically stated that the judgement’s draft is prepared; however it is impossible to release that before 14th.
This timing of this judgement is very crucial considering that Pongal is at the corner. The Centre yesterday said that everything is clear and thing are ready; however centre has adopted a wait and watch policy. It also believed that the SC will serve justice and people will be able to celebrate Pongal as per their holy traditions.
The SC had banned Jallikattu in 2014 on the basis of animal cruelty cause. In 2015 in upheld its decision after Tamil Nadu government requested for review.
Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam yesterday said that he will ensure that Jallikattu is held this year; however the chances seem very slim.
He said that he will ensure that Jallikattu happens this year and he will not back off a bit on this matter. CM Panneerselvam also believed that Jayalalithaa;s footsteps are followed and Tamilian enjoy their traditions and heritage.
