Supreme Court – There Is No Need To Stand If National Anthem Is Played In a Film

Supreme Court has reformed its order that audience are not required to stand up in the cinema halls while National Anthem is being played as the part of a movie or documentary.


Earlier SC made obligatory to play national anthem inside the cinema halls before a movie screening starts, then debates started whether it is necessary for a watcher to stand up every time the National Anthem is being played within a movie.

On 30th November 2016, Supreme Court had ordered that all cinema halls across the country will be playing National Anthem beforehand the screening of a film.  Further court had specified that everyone in the cinema hall must stand and pay respect to the National Anthem.
