A potential terrorist attack has occurred within the perimeter of Britain’s parliament building, as initial reports indicate that a policeman has been stabbed, an assailant shot and several injured and bleeding people on Westminster Bridge, next to parliament. Some reporters who were present in the parliament building at the time of the incident said that they heard loud bangs. When one of the photographers came outside, he noticed many injured people, some of whom were bleeding profusely. However, the exact number of causalities is not yet clear.
Speaking on the development, London’s Metropolitan Police said, “Officers – including firearms officers – remain on the scene and we are treating this as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise.” Soon after the incident, the ongoing session of the House of Commons was suspended and lawmakers were directed to stay inside the building. It is not yet clear where Prime Minister Theresa May was when the incident occurred, but sources said that she was safe. A large number of armed police with shields have been deployed at the parliament building to counter any further threats from terrorists.
