New Zealand, 08 November 2014: With the Indian Junior Women Team putting up a disappointing show in the third game of the six-match test series and losing the match by 0-5 to New Zealand, the home team now leads the tournament with two wins to their credit, backing up an earlier win and a draw in the series being held at the TET Multisports Centre in Stratford.
The first half of the match saw a defensive game from the Indian division, but slipped away two penalty corners in New Zealand’s favour which were successfully converted by Siobhan Nuzum and Su Arn Kwek, giving them a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half. The Junior Black Sticks Women were seen to on an attacking spree from the very beginning of the game and held the Indian Junior Women Hockey team back from opening their goal account in the match.
Repeated efforts from the Indian Junior Women Hockey team to open the goal account in the match and restricting the opponents from striking further goals went in vain, as the Junior Black Sticks Women went on to penetrate the Indian D and sliced in three more goals in the second half and take the goal tally 5-0.
With the first three matches of the series being played with two halves of 35 minute each, the teams will be playing with 15 minute quarters format in the remaining three matches of the series.
India will be taking on New Zealand again on 09 November 2014 (tomorrow) at 0730 HRS (IST) for their fourth match of the ongoing six-match test series in New Zealand at TET Multisports Centre, Stratford.
