The internet and Education in the Developing World

WiFi is an important factor in the student’s lives throughout America, it is the key to success for students in today’s modern society. As modern technology is continually expanding and evolving, classrooms should have all the technology available to allow students thrive academically in school. Technology allows students to access more sources like Google, and use  more credible and more updated sources than most books found in the library. Having WiFi in schools, also allows instantaneous communication between students, teachers, staff, and parents. Also, having wifi in classrooms allows for teaching to be more interactive for the students and expose them to the world around them. In modern society, technology has been one of the main resource in teaching, as many kids are growing up using technology, it has been a skill that they have already acquired at a young age.

Many schools have started incorporating technology into the classrooms by using the resource Google. Google, most well known search engine, and multimillion dollar company, has assisted and become a main resource for many students and teachers in school. At North Hagerstown High School in Maryland, the whole school has been using Google for the past two years throughout the school. Google Classroom, Docs, and Slides were some of the most used educational apps for staff, students, and parents at North High. Google Docs has assisted students with writing essays and works even when offline, while Google Slides has allowed students to prepare presentations. Both apps have allowed teachers access to look over assignments and grade the assignments and allowed students to share the assignment to fellow students when working in a group. Using WiFi and Google Docs allows for easier collaboration between fellow, peers and even improves a student’s teamwork skills.

While Google Classroom has allowed easier access to materials for students and teachers and made grading work much easier for teachers, while saving paper by not having to keep a grade log.

By allowing WiFi in schools, it makes a teacher and parent communication easier for both parties. Also, it benefits the students by having a support team behind them as they continue schooling. Having a parent and teacher relationship creates a feeling of community between the student and the school, which allows the parents to be updated on the academic achievement of the kid. Having access to WiFi makes it easier for teachers and staff to contact the parents through email. Instead, of constant parent-teacher meetings or constant phone calls home, which is time consuming, so email saves time for both the teacher and the parents. With successful communication between parents and teachers, parents are more likely to become more involved the student’s academic life, which results in academic improvement in the student. Having a strong support system gives the student motivation to be successful throughout school. By having a parent and teacher relationship, it allows the parent to become a huge part of not only the student’s home life but also the student’s school life as well.

With WiFi in schools, it enables students to explore their curiosity about different cultures. Allows students to an actually video chat their pen pal ,instead, of just writing to them, so WiFi helps builds relationships between students. Many schools have used virtual tours to assist students to visual famous places or settings without spending money on a field trips. WiFi has made it easier for schools to allow students to extend beyond the classroom and explore every aspect of the world and it has given students more opportunities to more resources to a variety of topics and learning methods. Also, various research by RouterInstructions proves how much network access is important for students

In conclusion, WiFi allows students access to multiple resources to aid them during projects and encourages them to explore outside of the classroom. Also, WiFi helps teacher keep track of grades and progress of the students, without waste paper. Having access to internet makes parent and teacher relationships much easier to build without wasting time by making countless phone calls and meetings. With the proper support, students can reach their full potential at school and will have the motivation to do their best in school and life in general.
