Madrid, October 14, 2014 – Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Victor Calvo-Sotelo, today unveiled the new edition of FICOD, International Digital Content Forum to be held on 2, 3 and December 4 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos in Madrid. According to Calvo-Sotelo, “The Government has identified the digital content industry as a priority in the Digital Agenda for Spain, passed in February 2013 The digital content industry is a booming sector (video games, animation, apps, social networks, etc. .) with high growth potential, marked by innovation and also is a source of skilled jobs for our youth. ”
Calvo-Sotelo explained that to take advantage of economic opportunities in this sector and enhance the capacities of national development have been analyzed in detail the needs of the industry, “identifying specific measures to respond to the needs and designing from the consensus sector, a long-term Plan to Promote the Digital Economy and Digital Content. ” This Plan is equipped with more than 90 million euros for the period 2013-2015 budget and its fundamental objectives to increase skills in the area of digital content, support innovation, encourage investment and promote the creation of new businesses in this sector.
