The military action against Muslim militants in Myanmar has resulted in a major refugee crisis, as thousands of Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh, leaving their homes in western Myanmar. Estimates suggest that over the past 6 days, around 18,500 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh. Many of the refugees were sick and some even had bullet injuries and other wounds. The miserable condition of Rohingya Muslim refugees has got the attention of the international community. Efforts are currently being made by various NGOs to provide relief to Rohingya refugees. The migration of Rohingya Muslims started after Muslim terrorists attacked an army base and police posts in Rakhine state.
The Myanmar Army has taken a tough stand against the militant attack and has unleashed its full force against the militants. In the process, even the common people among Rohingya Muslims are being targeted. Expecting the worse from the Myanmar Army, thousands of Rohingya Muslims are fleeing their homes and heading to the nearest exit, which is Bangladesh. Even though Bangladesh security forces are trying to send the Rohingyas back, the migrants are so many in numbers that many have already managed to cross the border and enter Bangladesh. It’s a worrying development for India as well since Rohingya Muslims can also cross over to the Indian side.
