In yet another blow to terrorists in the Kashmir Valley, security forces killed three terrorists in Uri in Kashmir. Officials said that the terrorists were planning to carry out a major attack on an army base in the area. However, the militants were neutralized before they could carry out their plans. With their elimination, a major terror attack has been averted. The search for the militants started this morning after information was received by the security forces that militants were active in the Kalgai area. Based on the information, the security forces started searching for the terrorists and found them. In the encounter that followed, the three terrorists were killed.
Security forces had cordoned off the area, and while they were combing the area, the militants started firing at them. In the retaliatory fire, the militants were killed. A soldier and three civilians were injured in the firing. According to Director General of Police S P Vaid, the terrorists were most likely planning to carry out a terror attack similar to the attack last year in which 19 soldiers were killed and several injured. Vaid said a big tragedy has been averted after the militants were neutralized by the security forces. Last year, militants had attacked the Army brigade headquarters in Uri, close to the Line of Control. Since the attack was sudden, Army personnel did not have time to respond.
