Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee said today that her party will not be attending the GST roll-out program, which is slated to be held on June 30. The reason for the boycott was that the government was showing unnecessary hurry in launching GST. TMC is not happy with the launch of GST from July 1. Mamta Banerjee also said that GST roll-out was another epic blunder. “Our Parliamentary Party has decided not to attend the 30th June, 2017 midnight programme at Parliament House to celebrate GST, as a mark of protest,” she said. “We are deeply concerned about GST implementation. After #demonetization, this unnecessary disastrous hurry is another epic blunder of the Centre”, she posted on Facebook.
Mamta Banerjee also said that small and medium businesses are not ready with GST. She said that there is a lot of confusion and very little time is left to properly implement GST. She said that she had requested the central government for more time, but all her requests seem to have fallen on deaf years. She said that launching GST in a hurry may cause shortage of essential items such as medicines.
