TMC MPs create ruckus in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) Trinamool Congress MPs created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a BJP member alleged that the West Bengal Chief Minister’s address was misused in a scam involving shell companies.

BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, making a Zero Hour mention, claimed that a Bihar politician had links with the scam related to shell companies in the state.

He said a similar scam took place in West Bengal and it was found that the Chief Minister’s address was given by a shell company during its registration.

TMC MPs objected and demanded that the Speaker expunge the remarks from the records.

The TMC members created a ruckus and then trooped near the Speaker’s podium.

Even as the Chair assured that the name would be expunged, the TMC MPs continued their protest, due to which the remainder of Zero Hour mentions took place amid the din.

The house was adjourned for lunch thereafter.

Earlier, during Zero Hour, TMC MP Saugata Roy alleged that money and muscle power were used to lure opposition legislators in states like Goa, Manipur and Gujarat.

“Money and muscle power has been used in Gujarat to lure six Congress MLAs. The Election Commission has asked the state authorities to probe the case,” Roy said, adding that dubious deals were also struck in Goa and Manipur.

This drew a strong reaction from BJP MPs, but Roy said he did not name any party.

He also referred to political developments in Bihar, wherein the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) broke its alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress to form a government in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He said there were attempts to influence certain legislators in West Bengal as well but they were not successful.

“Six opposition MPs have been elected to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal,” he added.
