Theatre, television and film actor Tom Alter has been diagnosed with cancer.
The news was confirmed by his son Jamie Alter days after Tom was discharged from a Mumbai hospital.
Jamie confirmed that his father, aged 67, is suffering from stage four bone cancer.
Tom fell sick a year ago when he did not turn up for his play based on singer KL Saigal.
The same report states that the film he was planning to direct has been indefinitely put on hold and a promotional event of his upcoming show was also cancelled recently.
Last week, he was admitted into a city hospital he complained of “body pain”.
While that led to speculations of Tom suffering from a terminal disease.
However, now Tom’s son has confirmed this news.
Tom was last seen in Vijay Verma and Imran Khan’s travel drama Sargoshiyan earlier this year.
He is best known for his stint in theatre and for playing Shaktiman’s mentor in the popular children’s television show.
In 2008 he received a Padma Shri for his contributions in the fields of arts and cinema.
