Top leader of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), Narayan Sanyal passed away on late Monday night in a south Kolkata hospital. Sanyal, in early 80s, was suffering from cancer.
Sanyal, the CPI strongman, was the Polit Bureau member at the time of his arrest in 2005. He was the second most important leader after the party’s national secretary, Muppalla Lakshmana Rao.
Narayan Sanyal was known as an unorthodox, non-sectarian and exceptionally humane leader among his party.
