Twitter Inc. is partnering with Bloomberg Media, which will enable the social media company to stream 24/7 TV news on its platform. The information has been revealed by the Wall Street Journal. The news TV channel that will be broadcast on Twitter platform is yet to be named and is expected to be announced shortly. The service is expected to be launched by this fall. It may be recalled that Twitter’s growth has plateaued in the past few quarters. The social media company has been trying to convince advertisers that it will soon be able to improve its user base. The partnership with Bloomberg Media is a step in that direction.
To improve its user base, Twitter has also launched other initiatives such as allowing live video broadcasts from its app. Twitter has also introduced new features to make their services more attractive to users. It may be recalled that last year in October, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey had said in an internal memo that one of the company’s missions was to be recognized as the “people’s news network”. Twitter has been channeling news and sports on mobile devices since last year. Analysts said that this could be a move to make it attractive for acquisition by a media company.
