United States President Donald Trump has announced that U.S is withdrawing from the Paris climate deal but is ready for a fresh negotiation or a new climate deal altogether.
The reason for the withdrawal he said was due to the major job loss to the US while making other countries gain a financial advantage over the US by putting it to “very, very severe” economic disadvantage.
U.S. is the mot polluting country in the world and their emissions are more than double than their rival China and is always been under criticism for getting their backyard right when it comes to the discussion on the climate deal and carbon gas emissions. It is to be noted here that earlier, it called major growing economies like India, China, Philippines, Brazil and South Africa as the nations responsible for the increase in the carbon footprint across the globe.
President Donald said it had a ‘self-inflicted major economic wound’ on the US.
Reacting to this, former President of U.S., Barack Obama said ‘Even in the absence of American leadership; even as this administration joins a small handful of nations that reject the future; I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got.’
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker also lashed at Trump’s decision.
