Uber CEO Kalanick to take leave of absence, major aide quit

World’s larges cab aggregator Uber is in trouble. The company which is facing sex accusations met on Monday and has decided to shake up the management. Kalanick who has built the company from nothing to a USD70 Billion enterprise would be recommending Kalanick to take an absence of leave of 3 months.

The company is also adopting all of the recommendations made in a report by the former attorney general Eric J Holder Jr who has recommended one of the top aide of Kalanick, Emil Michael to be fired. The founder who was hailed as an innovator and a role model is in deep trouble following the board recommendations.

Kalanick has worked without availing any leave since 2009 and this forced leave is seen as a black mark to his reputation he has built over years. This adds more woes to him since he lost his parents just last month over a tragic accident.

Uber has fired more than 20 employees so far on sexual harassment and discrimination charges.

“This starts at the very top,” said Micah Alpern, a principal at A. T. Kearney, a top management and consulting firm. “They need to start from scratch to create a new culture entirely.”

The trouble began last February when Susan Fowler, a former employee alleged sexual harassment and fied a complaint.
