Jaydev Undakat secured a hat-trick in the final over thereby scripting a win for Rising Pune Super Giants in the match against Sun Risers Hyderabad yesterday. The SRH which needed 12 runs in the final over to script a victory collapsed under the sheer bowling performance of the pacer.
While Unadkar got 5 wickets, his team mate Ben Stokes got 3. Both of them gave away 30 runs each defending the modest total of 148 runs. Unadkat’s final over scalps included Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the second, third and fourth deliveries. It was the third hat-trick of the season.
Initially with some good batting performance by Yuvraj Singh and David Warner who has scored 47 and 40 runs respectively, SRH was placed in a comfortable position to win but once Yuvraj departed, despite of needing just 32 runs with 5 wickets in hand, SRH could not capitalise on it and collapsed.
For RPSG, Steve Smith and Ben Stokes were the top scores scoring 34 and 39 runs respectively and few felt that Ben Stokes deserved the Man of the Match since he has performed both with the bat and the ball.
In another match, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Daredevils by a massive margin of 146 runs and was the first team from this IPL season to enter the semis. Mumbai Indians tops the chart with 18 points followed by RPSG with 16 points.
