UNSG Personal Envoy for Sahara meets Morocco King

Rabat, Oct 18 (IANS/MAP) King Mohammed VI of Morocco received in the Rabat Royal Palace, the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for the Moroccan Sahara, Horst Kohler, who is visiting Morocco as part of a regional tour, a statement from the Royal Office said.

Kohler, former President of Germany, was granted audience by the King, with the King’s advisor Fouad Ali El Himma, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Kohler’s special advisor David Schwake attending the meeting.

Kohler has also held the position of director general of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Kohler was appointed last August by UNSG Antonio Guterres as his new personal envoy for the Sahara to replace Christopher Ross, the statement noted.
