Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will meet the Bulandshahr mother-daughter gang-rape victims at their residence in Ghaziabad.
The oppositions claims that the step is an initiative by the state head to control the reputation of his political party and government after the incident.
However, members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) claim that their leader has always been sensitive towards women related issues or any other crime.
“During our term crime in the state has come under control. We accept a few major incidents have occurred but we ensured all behind the criminal bars faced the stick of justice,”said a senior SP party member.
He added, soon after the Bulandshahr incident which occurred last Saturday in which mother-daughter travelling along with family members were raped, Yadav fell heavily on the administration and police.
“It is usually seen that the lowest in the order faces the beat of music. But after the unfortunate incident to ensure such incidents do not occur in the state and to pass a strong message among all rank of officers that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated, Yadav suspended the SSP of the district first,” added the leader.
The UP chief minister soon after learning the incident had suspended SSP Bulandshar, City SP, a circle officer and SHO Kotwali Dehat for dereliction of duty soon after he learnt about the incident.
He had directed the Police head to monitor the follow-up development of the Bulandshar incident and make blue-print of steps to be taken to ensure similar incidents to Bulandshar does not occur.
In the Bulandhshar incident, the UP Police have arrested three people and more than 30 raiding teams have been formed to nab the two evading arrest.
