UP : Cousins held under anti – Romeo drive, cops take bribe to free them



As per the sources : Two cops got suspended on Tuesday for reportedly taking bribe from two cousins , whom they took in custody during UP Polices’s anti – Romeo drive in Rampur.

The SP of Rampur – KK Chaudhary stated that sub inspector Sanjeev Giri and constable Vimal Kumar were suspended on charges of taking bribe. There was no official complaint against the two cops.

The action by the department has been taken after watching the video showing them taking bribe from a young boy and girl which got viral, he stated.

As per the reports – the cops named Vimal and Giri caught the youth aged  around 18 years , when they came to Rampur to purchase medicines from Hashmat Ganj Village.

The cops took action against  the young boy and girl under anti-romeo drive. The two were kept outside the police station for around two hours. As per the sources ,the cops did not allow the cousins go even after their relatives clarified  that they were relatives not a couple.

After this , the policeman reportedly demanded Rs.5000 as a bribe to free the young boy and girl. The relatives gave the amount to the cops and made video of two accepting the bribe.

Victim’s relatives then approached local MLA and minister Baldev Singh Aulakh, who informed the SP about the incident.
