The Civil Services Examination 2016 results have been declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The final results are based on the overall score comprising the written test and Personality test. It may be recalled that the written test was conducted in December 2016, whereas the interviews for Personality Test were conducted in March-May, 2017. A total number of 1099 candidates have been selected for UPSC and these people will appointed in various services such as Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service; and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
The topper of the 2016 UPSC Civil Services Exam is Nandini KR who comes from Karnataka. The second and third spots were grabbed by Anmol Sher Singh Bedi and Gopalakrishna Ronanki respectively. Apart from the topper, there were two other female candidates in the top 10 list – Saumya Pandey who secured the 4th rank and Shweta Chauhan who secured the 7th rank.
The UPSC Civil Services examinations are considered to be one of the toughest in the world. It may be recalled that more than 11.36 lakh candidates had taken part in the exams, but only 1099 candidates have been selected. The selected candidates belong to General, OBC, and SC/ST categories and their respective share was 500, 347 and 163/89.
