In a surprise confession, a US official said that multiple Russian military aircrafts came close to a US Navy destroyer in the Black Sea on Feb. 10. Such incidents are considered as unsafe and unprofessional.
The Russian Defense Ministry has denied of any information of such incidents. Major-General Igor Konashenkov from Russian Defense Ministry said that no such incident happened on February 10 in which any Russian military jets in the Black Sea came close to any U.S. Navy destroyer Porter.
However, Captain Danny Hernandez, a spokesman for U.S. European Command, has claimed that three separate incidents involving Russian aircraft and the USS Porter were reported on February 10.
He also gave details of the Russian military jets, claiming that two Russian Su-24 jets and a larger IL-38 were involved in such incident.
Captain Danny Hernandez also said that USS Porter queried all aircraft and received no response. He also claimed that the incidents involving the Su-24 were considered to be unsafe and unprofessional by the commanding officer of the Porter because of their high speed and low altitude, while the IL-38 flew at an unusually low altitude.
