The western Uttar Pradesh is voting today for 73 of the 405 state assembly seats and initial trends of voter turnouts are encouraging.
As of 11 am today, around 24.5% voter turnover has been recorded overall in the election phase I.
The voting is spread across the 15 districts in the western Uttar Pradesh where total 839 candidates are testing their luck. Around 2.59 crore voters are eligible to exercise their most important right.
The western UP has always been a stronghold of Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and a lot of decisions will depend on the turnout of first phase for BSP.
As of 11 am around 25.5% polling percentage has been recorded in the state at with Shamli constituency leading with 29%.
