We covered yesterday in one of the news about 4 time World Champion Sebastian Vettel taking the pole position but failed to turn it to his advantage since Ferrari yet again lost it to the dominating Mercedes which is yet to concede the title since 2015. Ferrari which has ruled the circuit till 2015 is finding it difficult to come back to the circuit to stamp its authority.
The Finnish has claimed his first ever victory which has come in his 80th GP outing. This is the fourth race he has represented for Mercedes. Sebastian Vettel came second followed by Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton.
After the win, Bottas said “When I drive there is not much emotion in there,” he said. “I’m just trying to get everything right and get every lap, every corner perfect. All the questions, all the speculation, No2 driver and so on, it doesn’t get to me. It doesn’t matter.”
He was congratulated by his team mate and World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
Vettel said “He’s done a superb job, it’s his day and he deserves to win because he drove better than all the rest of us”.
Bottas replaced Nico Roseberg on a one-year contract and has proved his talent on his fourth race. His previous best results were at the British GP and German GP where he secured second places in 2014 for Williams.
