Newspatrolling: Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has been declared as NDA’s candidate for the post of Vice President. The announcement was made this evening after the BJP parliamentary board’s meet. The decision was formally announced by BJP President Amit Shah. Speaking about the NDA’s decision, Shah said, “It has been decided that one of our tallest leader Venkaiah Naidu is our candidate for Vice President. He does not need any introductions. Venkaiah ji has a lot of experience… He has been associated with the BJP since childhood. All the NDA allies have welcomed his candidate.”
It may be recalled that earlier there was a lot of speculation about who will be the NDA’s candidate for the post of Vice President. There were rumors about Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao and O Rajagopal being selected as the VP candidate. Naidu appears to be a good choice, especially after Congress-led opposition parties have announced Gopalkrishna Gandhi, as their candidate for the Vice President. The elections for Vice President will be held on August 5. The last date for filing nominations is July 18.
