Venus Williams pulled an upset win over localite Johanna Konta and dashed her hope of becoming the first British Wimbledon Woman Finalist. Venus reached the finals eight years ago in he Wimbledon and she kind of reminded Navaratiloa who entered the finals when she was 37 years old.
Venus had a easy win in this otherwise most expected match and she sealed the victory with a score of 6-4,6-2. If only Konta had made it to the finals, she would have been the next woman after Virginia Wade who made it to the finals in 1977. Konta gave a little fight only on the first set but lost her steam in the second one. On the contrary, Venus emerged strong and it is to be reminded here that she lost just 1 set so far.
On the other match, Muguruza who was earlier defeated in the finals of 2015 by Serena Williams had emerged victorious. She defeated Magdalina Rybarikova in the semis. If Muguruza wins the Wimbledon, she will be the first Spanish Woman to win the title in 23 years.
Muguruza defeated Rybarikova with a convincing score of 6-1, 6-1 and will face Venus in the finals. Will she be able to win it this time? We will come to know by this weekend.
