After spending two days in police custody, Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala’s son Vikas and his friend Ashish Kumar have been sent to judicial custody till August 25. The police had arrested the duo, after charges of attempt to kidnap were slapped against them. The charge of attempt to kidnap is a non-bailable offence. Earlier, the duo was charged only with stalking and driving under the influence of alcohol, which are bailable offences. After the charge of attempt to kidnap was added, the duo was arrested and produced in court. The defense counsel said that the accused were not guilty since no offence has been committed. He pointed out that no molestation or kidnapping had occurred. However, the court considered the gravity of the case and ordered two day police custody for the accused.
After spending two day in police custody, the duo were again produced in court. The police did not request any further custody since they had already collected all the information they needed. The court then decided to send the accused to judicial custody till August 25. Vikas’s father Subhash Barala said that there is no political pressure and that the police will take further action, as per the provisions of law.
