Virat Kohli turns down multi-crore soft drink endorsement deal, here’s why

Team India captain Virat Kohli has reportedly turned down a multi-crore offer of endorsing a soft-drink company.

Kohli rejected offer just because he does not consume those drinks anymore, keeping his physical and mental fitness in mind, said a report.

The Delhi batsman had earlier this year said that he did not want to endorse brands just for the sake of money.

“When I started my fitness turnaround, it was more of a lifestyle thing initially. If something goes away from that, I would not want to be a part of that or be promoting that,” said Kohli.

“If I myself won’t consume such things, I won’t urge others to consume it just because I’m getting money out of it,” he had added.

Kohli has endorsed several companies, including MRF Tyres, Boost, Puma sports gear, Audi, Pepsi among few others.

Earlier Indian badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, who also avoids himself from consuming soft drinks, had turned down a similar lucrative offer.

Gopichand said he, however, did not stop shuttlers like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Parupalli Kashyap from endorsing any soft drink brand, but insisted them to not consume those drinks.
