VKAAO releases “Village Rockstars” – India’s nomination to Oscars 2019

New Delhi, 27th September, 2018: Vkaao – the on-demand movie screening platform, co-founded by PVR Pictures and Book My Show, is exclusively releasing Rima Das’s Village Rockstars, India’s Nomination to Oscars 2019 today. In a first multi-city release including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru; Village Rockstars, an Assamese film will run from 28th September in select PVR Cinemas.

Propelling consumer choice through the power of content curation, Vkaao is evolving its minimum ticket model to not only empower its consumers with different content but also enable new and independent filmmakers to showcase their unique experiential content.

Vaibhav Lal & Karan Ahuja, Co-Founders, VKAAO said, “Vkaao is proud to be associated with Village Rockstars. We had planned the release of the film, with the idea of bringing this year’s “Best Feature Film” winner at the National Film Awards for the audiences. Getting selected as India’s nomination for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category was just like a lot of cherries on top!”

Ms. Rima Das, said “Independent filmmakers like myself are very grateful to platforms like Vkaao and PVR who enable us to showcase our work which otherwise do not usually reach the audiences due to the shoe-string budget. I am thrilled about Village Rockstars, and excited to see how the film is received nationally through this exclusive release by PVR Pictures and its platform Vkaao.

Vkaao, through its consumer centric approach is endeavoring to make available quality content that otherwise gets minimalistic or no screen time due to commercial unviability. Restricted to film festivals and for critics to opine, consumers loose on the opportunity to enjoy some of the accomplished work demonstrated by the profusion of cinema makers hosted by the industry. Vkaao, through its integrated model aims at bridging this gap empowering the consumers and independent filmmakers to program content.
