We are aiming to defend our title at the 4th Sultan of Johor Cup: Harjeet Singh

_KH_2511New Delhi, 08 October 2014: With the 4th Sultan of Johor Cup slated to begin from 12th October 2014, defending champions – the Indian Junior Men Team is practicing hard at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi with an aim to retain the title.  The 4th edition of the tournament will see six teams clashing for the title and the matches are scheduled to be played at Taman Daya Hockey Stadium at Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 12th – 19th October 2014.

Speaking at the practice sessions, Indian Junior Men Hockey Team Captain Harjeet Singh said, “Our team is upbeat at the moment and we are looking forward to retaining the title for India. We have been working on our techniques and strategies for the past few months and are confident of implementing those strategies on ground, against our opponents. The coaches have been guiding us and helping us in improving all aspects of the game. We are also inspired by our senior team and want to bring home the trophy as an acknowledgement to the pride they have brought to the country and add to the glory of the game.”

Commenting on the preparations, Coach Harendra Singh said, “We are preparing in the right direction for the Sultan of Johor Cup and the players are very much prepared. Our aim is to play good hockey and utilize all the opportunities we avail during matches. As our senior team has bagged gold in the recently concluded Asian Games 2014, the young players are motivated and also want to achieve a similar feat in the upcoming tournament. We are the defending champions and have set new targets for this tournament and we are working day and night to achieve those targets.”

The 4th Sultan of Johor Cup commences on 12th October 2014 and the Indian Junior Men Hockey Team is scheduled to depart for Malaysia on 9th October 2014 at 2300hrs and flight number is MH 191.
