May 20, 2019 g.| Geneva, Switzerland – The World Health Organization has announced the appointment of four new Goodwill Ambassadors from the world of sports, politics and social activities that will contribute to the strengthening of health, the development of the health workforce and mental health throughout the world.
The new ambassadors are:
- Alison Becker, the goalkeeper of Brazil national football team and football club “Liverpool”, and Dr. Natalia Becker Loewe, a doctor and an activist in the health sector, appointed as WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Health Promotion;
- Cynthia Germanotta, president of the Born This Way ( «Born so”), founded by her together with her daughter, Lady Gaga, appointed WHO Goodwill Ambassador for mental health problems;
- Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Liberia’s former President, appointed Goodwill Ambassador for WHO on the development of the health workforce.
The new appointments were announced by the Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus Adhanomom in his opening address to the 72th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
