The technology giant Wipro has sacked 600 employees after the performance appraisal. An unconfirmed news says that the numbers can go as high as 2000 employees.
Wipro which is the 3rd largest IT Solutions provider had over 1.79 lakh employees by December 2016. Wipro said it always undertakes a “rigorous performance appraisal process” to align its workforce with business objectives, strategic priorities of the company, and client requirements from time to time.
Wipro said its comprehensive performance evaluation process includes mentoring, re-training and upskilling of employees. The company is expected to report its fourth quarter and full-year numbers on April 25, 2017
The development comes at a time when Indian IT companies are facing an uncertain environment with various restrictions on work norms imposed by countries like the US, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
