Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that women across the state can avail free ride on all state-owned buses on Rakshabandhan day.
The women will be able to avail free ride from midnight of August 6 till midnight of August 7.
Necessary instructions have been issued to the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).
The CM also inaugurated an automated driving test track in Bareilly and Kanpur, a “Saarthi Bhawan” (passenger rest house) in Varanasi, Allahabad, Meerut and Ghaziabad, and seven transport corporation bus stations. He laid the foundation of three bus stations in Amroha, Meerut and Ghaziabad and inaugurated free Wi-Fi service at 75 bus stations across the state.
The state government has also asked police to ensure that the free ride for women is safe and that they do not face any trouble at the hand of any anti-social elements.
The festival of Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 7.
