The world’s fattest woman, Eman Ahmed, who had arrived in Mumbai last month, had lost nearly 100 Kg. She has also undergone bariatric surgery, which was successfully conducted on March 7, 2017. According to Saifee Hospital where she is being treated, she had undergone a Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, which was entirely successful. She is currently on oral fluids and is said to be in a stable condition. The next phase of her treatment will involve looking after the associated problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension and sleep deprivation. The doctors aim to get her fit enough so that she can go back to her home in Egypt and start a new life.
It may be recalled than Eman’s weight was around 500 Kg, when she had arrived in Mumbai last month. With weight loss treatment and medication, she has managed to reduce her weight by 100 kg. Doctors say that she can lose a lot more weight after she recovers from her bariatric surgery. In bariatric surgery, a part of the stomach is stitched, effectively reducing the size of the stomach. This helps the overweight person to eat less, since their stomach gets filled a lot sooner.
