The Sukhoi-30 which went missing few days back following which a massive search operation was undertaken by the army has found the wreckage of the missing jet in a dense forest near Tezpur in Assam. However the details about the two pilots is still not evident.
The flight went missing when it was flying near China’s air space and China denied that it did not had any information about the jet. Indian Air Force did not reveal the names of the missing pilots yet and it is feared that the pilots may not be alive.
“A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident,” IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee said. He continued “The search parties of the army are also trekking their way to the crash site. However, their progress is getting hampered due to inclement weather, thick foliage and steep terrain”
Lt Col Sombit Ghosh, spokesperson of the army’s Tezpur-based IV Corps said “The weather has been inclement and the area has dense foliage. Therefore, search parties are taking time to reach the spot”.
Tezpur has two squadrons comprising of 36 aircrafts. The wreckage was spotted only from the air and the investigation would be complete only when the ground level activity is conducted.
