For the past few weeks, there has been a huge increase in the applications being made to change the name entered in PAN Card (Permanent Account Number). This is because the Central Government has ordered all the PAN card holders to link their PAN card with their Aadhaar card by 1 July 2017. Therefore, people are facing problems in linking their Aadhaar to PAN Card.
If you use multiple spellings of your name, then it is possible that the spelling given on your name in your PAN card does not match the spelling given in your Aadhaar card. In such a situation, you will have difficulty linking the PAN card and the Aadhaar. It is also possible that in your bank account the spelling of your name is different than that mentioned on your Aadhaar card. In such a situation, you may have to face difficulty in linking your PAN card and Aadhaar.
If you do not complete the work of linking your Aadhaar card and PAN card by July 1, then your PAN card can be rejected. In such a situation, you cannot file your income tax returns in the current financial year, because both the PAN Card and Aadhaar have been made compulsory for filing tax returns. According to the Income Tax rule, the NRIs will not be banned from the time of filing tax returns in the country.
