Zumbro River Brand, Inc., contract extrusion and agglomeration specialists and manufacturer of Z-Crisps® high protein crisps for bars, has completed an expansion of their facilities and equipment.
A new twin screw extrusion system was installed to support business growth.The new system features a triple pass stainless steel belt dryer suitable for efficient drying of both small crisps and larger extruded pieces.With this new line, ZRB operates 4 production extrusion systems.
To support increased capacity and streamline operations, 8,250 sq. ft. of production space and, in conjunction with Albert Lea Development, 74,500 sq. ft. of warehousing space have been added to ZRB’s facility in Albert Lea, MN.
Zumbro River Brand and contract processing customers can now run trials in a 2000 sq. ft. pilot plant completed March, 2018 in the ZRB Owatonna facility. This new system features a pilot scale twin screw extruder for developmental work and feasibility studies and a triple pass belt dryer for efficient product drying.
Zumbro River Brand produces high protein snacks, cereals, crisps and textured pieces by twin screw extrusion.The company also agglomerates powdered products for improved dispersion and flowability using batch fluid bed technology.
