AAP MLAs camp at Lieutenant Governor’s house; demand files to be cleared

Newspatrolling: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has created a new controversy today after more than 40 of its MLAs have been sitting at the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s house and have been demanding that certain files be signed and approved by him immediately. The AAP legislators have refused to leave until the files are signed by the Lieutenant Governor. This seems to be an unprecedented move since the governor is normally given the most respect by most political parties. It appears that AAP may have turned to using muscle power to get its job done. One of the main demands of the AAP legislators is that the Lt. Governor should approve the construction of Mohalla Clinics, which is a pet project of AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Speaking his mind on Twitter, Kejriwal posted a tweet wherein he said that there should not be any politics with the construction of Mohalla Clinics. He said that the clinics will be instrumental in providing health services to nearly 2 crore Delhi residents. He also said in the tweet that the Lt. Governor should clear the file immediately. Kejriwal said that the public was being made to suffer by unreasonable delays. He said that if there are any problems, the same need to be sorted out immediately based on consultations with all concerned officers. He said that he will come to the Lt. Governor’s house if needed. Kejriwal said that instead of moving the file back and forth, the governor should discuss the issues on the spot and approve the file.
