Activists organize beef festival in protest, as Rajnath Singh visits Mizoram

Beef fests have become all the rage in recent times after the center issued the notification to ban sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets. In yet another instance, a group of activists in Aizawl organized a beef fest today to protest against the central government’s notification. This beef fest coincided with Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Mizoram. Rajnath Singh visited Mizoram to hold a meeting with Chief Ministers of all states that share their border with Myanmar. Rajnath Singh is holding the meeting in Aizawl, which is the capital of Mizoram. Singh’s security was increased, keeping in view the beef fest being organized by the activists.

The activists took to social media to gather support for their cause. They posted updates about the beef fest and invited everyone to attend the beef fest, which was organized today at 2 PM. The cattle notification has come up as a huge challenge for the NDA government, especially in view of its efforts to strengthen its position in the North East. It may be recalled that most North East states have opposed the cattle notification issued by the central government. People and political leaders in North East say that beef is their staple food and no one can take it away from them.
