CGIL, the largest Italian Trade Union, organised a national demonstration in Rome, on Saturday 7 October 2023

Today, Saturday 7 October, the demonstration took place in Rome, Italy: “La Via Maestra. Together for the Constitution”. Promoted by the CGIL, the main Italian Workers’ Union, together with over 100 associations and networks, which in turn bring together many realities of civil society, to defend the Italian Constitution and ask for its full application. Starting from its 1st article which states: “Italy is a democratic Republic, founded on work.” That work that must be stable, free, high-quality, the fulcrum of a sustainable development model, based on new industrial policies. Another point on which the demonstration insisted is the right to health, which is also central in the European Next Generation Eu Plan, but which was scaled down by the Italian Government once the pandemic was overcome. In short, a Piazza San Giovanni in Rome full of people, to reaffirm the fundamental rights enshrined in the Italian Constitution and to reiterate that Italy is one and indivisible, where the purposes of differentiation on a regional basis will not be applicable.
