It could soon be a reality that Apple will be assembling its iPhones at a Bengaluru factory in India. The Karnataka state government has welcomed a proposal by the iPhone maker in this regard. Apple wants to start initial manufacturing operations in Karnataka.
Karnataka government said that this historical move by the tech giant will bring cutting edge technological ecosystem as well as a strong supply chain development techniques to India. This will help other companies as well and put Indian on a global map in this field.
Apple has been lobbying hard for some tax rebates as well as sourcing concession from India. Its representatives have been meeting the government officials regularly for some time now.
Apple has said that it always appreciates the constructive dialogues with the officials and praised Indian government approach towards solving issues on a fast track basis.
As of now, no deal or memorandum of understanding has been finalized bethad so far been finalized between the state government and Apple. The firm may be looking to set a plant through its Taiwanese manufacturing partner Wistron Corp at Peenya in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
