Part of DC Extended Universe, Aquaman comes with an interesting, inspirational story that will surely prompt you to discover your superpowers. Aquaman’s character has not gained as much popularity as other superheroes, but things could change with this movie. And if you are thinking that everything has been shot underwater, then think again, because Aquaman has plenty of land-based action sequences, just like any other superhero movie.

The story catches up on the life of Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), who is the son of Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman). After Atlanna returns to her underwater kingdom, Arthur lives an ordinary life, just like his father Tom Curry (Temuera Morrison), who works as a lighthouse keeper. He has no interest in the matters of the underwater kingdom and does not give any importance to his royal heritage. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he meets Princess Mera (Amber Heard). The princess informs him that there’s a threat to humanity by people living in the underworld kingdom of Atlantis. When Arthur comes to know this, he has to choose whether to go with his own people or do something to save the world.

The strength of Aquaman is in its visual extravaganza and advanced CGI. There’s some romance as well to lighten up the mood. However, the film could have done better if it had focused a bit more on the humor part. Jason Momoa fits perfectly in the role of the king of the seven seas and it’s because of him that the film seems worth watching. Other actors such as Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, and Willem Dafoe have also delivered good performances.

If you like superhero movies, Aquaman can provide you a refreshing change. It’s good entertainment to be enjoyed with the entire family.
