BHIM app launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an eye on UP elections – Keeping an eye on the fast approaching Uttar Pradesh elections in 2017, the BJP led government has launched the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app. The app has been named after the father of the Indian constitution, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was also described as a great economist by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The app was launched by PM Modi at the Digi Dhan Mela in the Tal Katora Stadium at New Delhi.

The BJP is seen to be desperately wooing the Dalit votebank for the upcoming elections in UP. The BJP’s hold on Dalits has gone downhill since Dalit Student Rohit Vemula committed suicide last year. The Prime Minister focused on the advantages that the poor will have with the BHIM app.

He said that the app was a treasury of the poor for digital payments. He also said that technology was the power of the poor. He underscored the fact that the day is not far when the country’s trade will be done over the BHIM app. The BHIM app will let users transact by just using their thumbprint and there will be no need for a mobile phone or a smart phone.

He stressed that the BHIM app will give the people the best view of the good times to come in 2017. Narendra Modi also talked about the other schemes that were launched by the government, .i.e. the Lucky Grahak Yojana and the Digi Dhan Vyapaar Yojana. These were Christmas gifts for the common man from the government.

He also said that there will be a mega draw on the 14th of April 2017, which is also the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Prizes will be distributed to many people whose names figure in the lucky draw.
