Bihar alliance in danger as JD (U) asks deputy CM to come clean or resign

Even when Congress President Sonia Gandhi tried to intervene and resolve issues between alliance partners JD (U) and RJD in Bihar, it appears that things are heading for the worst. While JD (U) appeared to be accommodating earlier, it has now taken a tough stand against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tejaswi Yadav, who has been named by CBI in the land-for-hotels scam. The arguments between the two alliance partners had intensified in the last few days, and today it appeared even more caustic, as JD (U) said that RJD should stop displaying its strength of 80 MLAs and should instead come clean on the allegations made against deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav.

Speaking about the current development, JD (U) state spokesman Sanjay Singh said, “The RJD, which is showing arrogance of 80 MLAs, should not forget that it was reduced to 22 MLAs in 2010 state poll and in the elections in 2015 their number swelled due to the credible face of Nitish Kumar as head of the coalition.” It may be recalled that Bihar assembly has 243 seats, out of which RJD has 80, JD (U) 71, Congress 27 and BJP 53.
