Captain Amarinder Singh To Take Oath As Punjab CM Today

Captain Amarinder Singh will take oath as Punjab Chief Minister today in a high-profile ceremony in presence of Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.  

Chief Minister-designate Amarinder Singh single handedly steered the Congress to a stupendous victory in Punjab.

Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore will administer the oath of office at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh for Captain Amarinder Singh.

Captain Amarinder Singh will take oath of office along with his nine cabinet minister today. He will be the 26th chief minister of Punjab.

The ministers might include former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal, cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, industrialist Rana Gurjit Singh, dalit leader Charanjit Singh Channi, Razia Sultana from the Muslim community and Aruna Chaudhary.

Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will be attending the high-profile swearing-in.

The Congress swept the elections with 77 seats in the 117-member Assembly.
