E-commerce- Post Budget Reactions

Reaction from ECAI

Nasir Jamal, Secretary General, ECAI said, “While we welcome the government’s move on GST, it is our plea that in the interim a supportive tax environment should be built in the states. On behalf of the Ecommerce industry, we request the government to work towards a more conducive environment by liberalising the sector so that a large number of micro, small and medium enterprises can benefit.”———————————

“We welcome the announcement in the current Budget to implement GST across the country. This will reduce inefficiencies for the Ecommerce industry, especially the small and medium size players and enable them to grow at a much faster pace. However it is also our request that in the interim till the implementation of GST, a more supportive tax environment is created in the states and no coercive action is undertaken against Ecommerce companies for them to become agents for VAT collection.” – Bikky Khosla, Chairman – Ecommerce  committee, ASSOCHAM and CEO tradeindia[dot]com
