Gayatri Prajapati case: Police threaten rape-survivor’s daughter

The machinations of political power are clearly showing in the Gayatri Prajapati case, as the rape survivor and her family have claimed that they are being threatened by associates of Prajapati. The victim’s family has alleged that Prajapati may even be trying to kill them. They have also claimed that the UP police have been trying to force the victim’s teenage daughter to give a favorable statement. They said that when they opposed this, the police team threatened them with dire consequences. The threat was allegedly issued when a team of UP police, led by DSP Amita Singh, went to AIIMS in New Delhi to record the statement of the victim’s daughter, who was allegedly molested by the Prajapati and his associates. If the claims of the victim’s family are true, then the UP police team must have threatened the family during their visit at AIIMS.

Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of Gayatri Prajapati, who had gone missing after the Supreme Court directed UP police to take action against him. The police claim that they have searched Prajapati’s house in Amethi and Lucknow, but he could not be traced anywhere. It may be recalled that the rape case against Prajapati and his associates was filed by a woman from Chitrakoot. The woman had claimed that Prajapati and his associates gangraped her and also tried to rape her teenage daughter.
