Glenworth Estates forays into retail with the launch of Glendale Green Tea in the premium segment

  • Authentic Green Tea to be available in retail outlets across Chennai
  • The Aristocrat of Green Tea is produced from selected clones ; is a single garden premium variety and has the highest content of Polyphenols


Chennai: October 30, 2014|Glenworth Estates, renowned for offering a range of single garden pure premium tea of platinum quality, have entered the retail segment in India with the launch of Glendale Green Tea. Positioned in the premium segment, the product will be initially available in the Chennai market.

With over eight decades of core competency in the management of tea plantations, Glendale has been a bona fide supplier of tea in bulk to most of the leading players in the export segment with 75% of the production catered to the export markets of UK, Russia, Poland, Egypt, Taiwan, Japan & USA.

Speaking at the launch, K Gopalakrishnan, Director, Glenworth Estates said “it was the passion to introduce premium quality tea hitherto inexperienced by Indians that prompted us to launch our product in our own market. Indian tea consumers are deprived of the best of tea variety and have to be content in consuming the average quality, as the best quality tea produced in our country is exported to European shores and niche markets. Glendale’s green tea opens the door for Indian tea consumers on par with their counterparts in the elite markets to rejoice the cream of flavours among tea.”

Glendale’s green tea is processed and produced with ‘State of the Art’ machinery and Japanese technology to retain the highest amount of polyphenols, the best antioxidant in our system. Extraordinary care is taken to sustain the native flavour and to reach the customers as natural as it was in the natural settings.

The green tea at Glendale is produced from selected clones (Clone = Identical progenies derived from a single selected parent by vegetative means of propagation) to bring out the best quality Green tea. On dropping few Glendale green tea leaves into the cup and by pouring boiling water, the two leaves and a bud unfurl in the cup in greenish yellow liquor. It almost restores the original glory of the leaves attained in the tea garden.
