The Indian cricket team continued its winning streak, defeating Bangladesh in the test match being played in Hyderabad. India registered its win with a comfortable 208 runs. The Bangladesh side was bowled out for 279 in the second innings. With this win, India now has 6 consecutive series wins in the home season. The first among these was the test series against Sri Lanka in 2015.
While the batting side had scored massive runs earlier, the Indian bowlers also excelled by taking quick wickets and putting pressure on Bangladesh batsmen. Ashwin and Jadeja were among the top bowlers, taking four wickets each. Jadeja created the most difficulties for Bangladesh batsmen, as he turned and bounced the ball on the rough pitch. Indian pacer Ishant Sharma also took two wickets in quick succession, severely crippling the Bangladeshi side.
The fifth day started with Bangladesh batsmen Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah at the crease. Jadeja and Umesh Yadav started the bowling attack from the Indian side. During the fourth over of the day, a delivery from Jadeja hit Shakib’s gloves and ricocheted off his thigh, to be caught at short-leg by Cheteshwar Pujara. Thereafter, the wickets kept falling, helping India to register their 208-run win over Bangladesh.
