Indian cricket on a high; win T20 World Cup for Blind

Cricket in India has been making some significant news in recent times. In the latest development, India has triumphed over Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup for Blind. Pakistan had set a difficult target of 198 runs, but the Indian team successfully chased the huge score and registered a win with a fall of just one wicket. The icing on the cake was that 14 balls were still left to be bowled, when India registered its win. One of the top performers from India was opener Prakash Jayaramaiah, who scored an unbeaten 99. His innings helped India to claim the title. It may be recalled that India had won the T20 World Cup for Blind in 2012 also.

Meanwhile, in regular cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin has become the first bowler to take 250 wickets in the least number of matches. He has achieved this feat in just 45 matches. With this new record, Ashwin has broken the earlier record held by Australian legend Dennis Lillee, who had taken 48 matches to reach 250 wickets.

In another such record breaking run, the Indian team has become the first team to score 600 plus runs in three consecutive test matches. The credit for this goes to Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who now holds a personal record of 4 double centuries in 4 successive series, surpassing the earlier record of Sir Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid, who had scored three double hundreds in three successive series.
